In celebration of outstanding achievements by local women, YWCA Carlisle and Cumberland County will be honoring five women at their inaugural Persimmons Awards.

The Persimmons Awards were established to recognize and honor the often overlooked contributions of women in our community. The awards highlight the excellence, resilience, and significant impact these women have made.

Jane Burke, retired Senior Vice President at M&T Bank, will receive the George Award for her dedication to the YWCA Carlisle and Cumberland County, as her work has had a profound impact on the community and her legacy continues to inspire others.

Four additional women will be honored as Persimmon Award recipients:

Kelly Neiderer, Cumberland County Commissioner, will receive the Persimmon Award for her outstanding contributions in banking, finance, and community service.

Dorene Wilbur, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Specialist with the PA Office of Attorney General, will receive the Persimmon Award for her commitment to fostering inclusion and equity in education and beyond.

Lucy Zander, retiring Executive Director of the United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County, will receive the Persimmon Award for her dynamic leadership in the non-profit sector.

Barrie Ann George, Vice President of Development and Communications at Safe Harbour, will receive the Persimmon Award for her extensive contributions to the nonprofit human service sector and community organizations.

The Persimmons Awards will be presented at a luncheon on May 29, 2024, at the Allenberry Resort from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This event celebrates the achievements of these exceptional women and their dedication to making a difference in our community.
