Below, you will find registration for a free Safety Skills for LGBTQ+ Folks self-defense course, presented by Safe Bars/Defend Yourself, happening Thursday June 16th, as well as information on our Bonfire Beyond the Binary, happening here at the YWCA on Friday the 17th! Safety Skills for LGBTQ+ Folks – June 16th from 6:30-8:00pm

Sign-up for the nonprofit Safe Bars/ Defend Yourself online self-defense workshop! This virtual workshop is limited to 20 participants, so sign up soon to guarantee your spot! Participants will be sent Zoom meeting info upon signing up. Topics to be covered include:

  • Prevention and awareness: things you can do to prevent or avoid an attack or abuse
  • Assertiveness and verbal self-defense: using words and body language to stop obnoxious or intrusive behavior and to keep a situation from escalating
  • Physical self-defense: techniques to end a physical attack and get to safety.

We will have limited space at the Professional & Educational Empowerment Center in Carlisle (PEEC) for anyone who does not have internet access.
You do not need to share any specific details of your experience. We will use these responses to build a resource list to share as part of the class.
