A leadership development program for teen girls in Cumberland County
About this program
Girl Power! L.E.A.D.S. (Lead. Empower. Advocate. Develop.Serve) is a leadership program designed for girls in 7th through 12th grade in Cumberland County. Throughout the year, L.E.A.D. will focus on character development and effective teamwork in order to prepare participants to be change agents in their communities. Girl Power! L.E.A.D.S. participants will be exposed to community activism through community service across Cumberland County, and will complete a leadership project over the course of the year.
The program is offered to middle and high school aged girls in 7th through 12th grades attending school within Cumberland County, and is provided at no cost for families.
Date + Time:
Girl Power! L.E.A.D.S. meets at YWCA Carlisle about twice a month on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at YWCA Carlisle. The 2019-2020 Girl Power! L.E.A.D.S. program will begin on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Girl Power! L.E.A.D.S. will continue to meet two to three times a month on Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with the exception of December; Girl Power! L.E.A.D.S. will not meet on Wednesday, December 25, 2019. The following dates are scheduled for the 2019 – 2020 Girl Power! L.E.A.D.S. program:
- Fall 2019: September 4, 2019, September 18, 2019, October 2, 2019, October 16, 2019, November 13, 2019, and November 27, 2019
- Winter 2019/2020: December 11, 2019, January 8, 2020, January 22, 2020, February 5, 2020, and February 19, 2020
- Spring 2020: March 4, 2020, March 18, 2020, April 1, 2020, April 15, 2020, April 29, 2020, May 13, 2020, and May 27, 2020
- Summer 2020: June 10, 2020, June 24, 2020, July 8, 2020, July 22, 2020, and August 5, 2020
Girl Power! L.E.A.D.S. is held at YWCA Carlisle, located at 301 G Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
Registration for the 2019-2020 program is closed.
